AI has the potential to transform healthcare across the patient journey,

from diagnosis and treatment to patient management and care,

offering new opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and expand access to services.

However, for these technologies to translate into real health outcomes,

technical performance alone is not enough. A range of conditions must also be in place,

including evidence generation, regulation, digital infrastructure, the health workforce, procurement,

and financing. In resource-constrained settings, including low- and middle-income countries (LMICs),

these barriers can limit the adoption and scale-up of AI-enabled innovation.

The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) has supported biohealth technology development,

the identification of promising companies, and their commercialization and global expansion.

Unitaid has worked to ensure that innovation translates into real health impact by identifying and addressing the barriers that prevent equitable access to health products and technologies,

with the needs of patients and communities at the center.

Against this background, the KHIDI–Unitaid Joint Forum will bring together Korean innovators and researchers,

healthcare and global health experts, and international partners to discuss how promising AI healthcare innovations can be adopted in real-world healthcare settings and scaled up to deliver equitable health outcomes.

The forum will showcase promising Korean technologies and use cases, including AI-enabled diagnostics and screening,

AI devices supporting point-of-care, remote, and home-based care, and AI-enabled treatment and patient management.

It will also examine the conditions required for AI innovations to scale as real-world health solutions, including evidence generation, regulation, infrastructure, procurement, financing, and sustainability.

Through these discussions, the forum seeks to identify practical opportunities for collaboration among KHIDI, Unitaid,

and other healthcare and global health partners in Korea and internationally, and to discuss future directions for collaboration toward patient-centered and equitable AI healthcare innovation.
