| Session Synopsis | This session highlights the strategic value of AI-based early cancer screening and precision medicine in global health. Cancer is a leading cause of death in all APEC countries, and early detection is a key strategy for dramatically improving treatment rates and survival rates. However, equity issues persist due to disparities in medical infrastructure between countries and regions. This session will discuss how AI technology can expand diagnostic accessibility, compensate for shortages of skilled professionals, and enhance cost-effectiveness across the entire cancer management cycle, including imaging diagnostics, pathological analysis, and prognosis prediction. It will share examples of government-led AI screening initiatives and public-private collaboration experiences in some APEC countries, and conduct an in-depth review of the applicability in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), ensuring the reliability of data-driven AI, and ethical and legal considerations. Through this process, participating countries will exchange insights on how AI-based cancer management models can create public value within their healthcare systems. |
